How to Enjoy the Online May Festival

About Hybrid Style Festival

How the festival is going to be held will change according to the situation concerning the spread of COVID-19. Please check the information posted on this website, our official Twitter, and our official Facebook page.
What is the Hybrid Style Festival like?
It means that the festival includes both face-to-face projects and online video streamings. You can either enjoy yourself at the campuses just as in the past, or participate in the festival online via this website.
To prevent the spread of COVID-19, we will ask you to follow the measures against the infection. For more details, please refer to “Festival Modality” .
Can visitors freely enter the campuses?
Due to the limitation of the number of people in the campuses, all visitors need to acquire an entrance ticket to get in. Please refer to “Dear Guests Attending on Site” for more information about the entrance tickets.
Are visitors allowed to eat or drink at the campuses?
Please refrain from eating or drinking except for rehydration. In addition, please note that there won’t be any outdoor food stalls that we used to have in the past festivals.

Until when are the projects available?
All the projects will be available from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. for both dates. (May 14th (Sat.) and 15th (Sun.)).
※By exception, exhibition projects online will be available from 9 a.m. on May 14th (Sat.) through 6 p.m. on May 15th (Sun.).
Is it possible to interview the committee members or those involved in projects at the May Festival?
Yes. However, interviews related to the May Festival will require request and permission in advance. Please have a look at “Media Inquiries” for more details.

About the Reservation

Where and when can visitors get the entrance ticket?
You can apply for the ticket through this page during 3 p.m. on April 24th (Sun.) through 9 p.m. on April 30th (Sat.). You will receive a confirmation Email after application.
Is there a limit in the number of reservations?
Yes. If the number of requests surpasses the capacity, admissions will be decided by lottery. Whether you’ve been admitted or not will be informed by Email at 3 p.m. on May 3rd (Tue.).
Can multiple people make a reservation at the same time?
We are very sorry, but you can’t. In principle, each person needs to make a reservation for admission and other procedures in advance.
I haven’t got the confirmation Email. What should I do?
Please make sure that the Email address you entered when making a reservation is correct and that your settings allow Emails from . Alternatively, please check your spam folder.
Is it possible to cancel or change the details of the reservation?
Yes. Please access the link written in the confirmation Email and perform the procedure.
Where and when can I make a reservation in advance for each project?
You can make a reservation from 3 p.m. on May 4th (Wed.) through each project’s reservation page. The links for the websites will be uploaded on the page of each project until the number of reservations reaches its limit. Please refer to “Guide for Project Viewing Tickets” to know about each project’s reservation in detail.
Which projects require reservations in advance?
In principle, advance reservations are necessary for projects that tend to draw crowds in a short period of time, including those that were popular in the past. For a list of projects that require reservations, please search through “Onsite Project Search” or refer to “Guide for Project Viewing Tickets” .
※There is a case where you may be able to view or participate in the projects without making a reservation if not face-to-face but online. Please refer to the “Online Project Search” page.
I don’t know the password for reservations for each project.
Please refer to the 7-digit number in the Email you received at 3 p.m. on May 3rd (Tue.) to obtain an entrance ticket. Please keep in mind that you will not be able to make an advance reservation for each project if you don’t have the entrance ticket to the campuses.
What procedures are needed during the festival?
You will be asked to present each confirmation Email or the 2D code attached to the Email to confirm your reservations. Please refer to each reservation confirmation Email for specific information on how to inquire.
Is it possible to make a reservation during the festival?
Yes. However, please note that you will not be able to make a reservation if the number has reached its limit or the project has already started.

About Facilities and Services

Is the May Festival Official Brochure available?
Yes. They will be distributed when you enter the campuses. Moreover, an electronic version of the Official Brochures and some correction matters are published online.
Are there any May Festival Official Goods?
Yes. You can purchase them at the Goods Store shown on the campus map. You can buy them online from “Official Goods” .
Can I come to the campuses by bike?
No. We are afraid you can't. Please enter on foot.
Are there any places where I can charge my cell phone or smartphone?
No, we are afraid there aren’t. You may be asked to show your Email to confirm your entrance reservation or other advance reservation for projects, so please have your phones fully charged when visiting the festival.
Is Wi-Fi available for people other than students of the University of Tokyo?
Yes, the UTokyo-Guest wireless LAN service is available for free on the campuses.
Are there any spots where I can sit and rest?
Yes. You can sit down and take a rest at the Rest Area indicated on the campus map. To prevent the spread of COVID-19, please disinfect your hands with the alcohol equipped and cooperate in social distance.
Are there any places to throw away trash?
Yes. You can throw away your trash at the Garbage Station outside the buildings indicated on the campus map. Please see to it that you can’t use trash cans inside the buildings.
Are there any buildings that I’m not allowed to go in?
In principle, please do not enter buildings that do not hold any projects for the visitors. The buildings open to the visitors can be identified by the blor coding on the campus map and the banners or signs placed at the entrances.
What should I do when I get sick?
Please refrain from coming to the campuses when not feeling well. If you become sick inside the campuses, please ask committee members with blue happi coats for help while avoiding contact with other visitors. First Aid is available at the Information Center or Health Center.
Where can I inquire about the lost and found items?
If you are on the campuses during the May Festival period (May 14th(Sat.) -15th (Sun.)), please visit the Information Center shown in the campus map. If not, please contact the committee through the “Contact Us” page.

Do you have any recommendations of what projects to participate in or view?
Please take a look at the “Recommended Projects” section on this website for a list of the Must-see Projects and recommended Academic Projects. Also refer to the “Web Specials” section, which introduces recommended projects by topic. In the “Project Search” section, you can look for projects by typing in keywords or genres.
※Reservations may be needed to participate in or view recommended projects. Please check the website page of the project in advance to see whether it requires reservation or not.

How can I participate in the Hongo Campus Gacha Trip?
This is a project where you will follow the instructions from the gacha to tour the campus and take photos. For more information, please refer to “the project detail page” .
Is there any project in which Little May, the official mascot of the May Festival, will appear?

What is the May Fes. Awards?
It is a project to determine the most popular projects of the May Festival based on the evaluations of all visitors. You can rate each project from 1 to 5 stars and comment freely on the projects you have participated in or viewed from the project detail page and the May Festival Official LINE account. How to Enjoy the Online May Festival

What kind of content can I appreciate online?
Various forms of projects will be released through the Official Website. The following is examples
  • Live-streaming projects using YouTube, etc.
  • Participatory projects using Zoom, etc.
  • Sales projects through mail order
  • Exhibit projects that you can enjoyed online
In addition to such projects, you can also enjoy contents such as “Little May's Running” and “Little May Dress-up” .
How can I find a project?
In the “Online Project Search” section, you can see a list of projects that are available online and filter them by project category, type of implementation, keywords, etc.
