The University of Tokyo Department of Mathematical Engineering and Information Physics, Faculty of Engineering Department of Applied Physics

The Department of Applied Physics in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Tokyo is composed of students from the Department of Physical Engineering and the Department of Mathematical Engineering. The Department of Physical Engineering studies technologies to apply the laws of physics in society. On the other hand, the Department of Mathematical Engineering is divided into two courses: the Mathematical Information Engineering course, which aims to solve social problems using mathematics, and the Systems Information Engineering course, which studies mechanisms related to cognition and behavior and how to solve problems by applying them.
