About May Festival

QWhen and Where is the 98th May Festival held?

It is held in the University of Tokyo Hongo / Yayoi Campuses on May 24th (Sat.), 25th (Sun.), from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

QAre there any procedures to participate in the May Festival?

Nothing in particular. Admission is free as well.

QHow can I get to the campuses?

Trains and buses are available. Please refrain from coming by any private vehicles including car, motorcycle, bicycle, and scooter. For detailed information on access such as the nearest stations, please refer to Access and Campus Map.

QIs it allowed to bring in pets?

Except for assistance dogs, please refrain from walking with pets in the campuses, both indoors and outdoors.

QWill the festival be held on a rainy day?

Yes, but stage performances and some outdoor projects may be canceled in case of severe weather.

QIs it allowed to drink alcohol on campuses?

You cannot bring alcohol to the campuses, but it is possible to buy them at projects or stores that sell alcohol. If you buy alcohol on the campuses, please put on the “Alcohol Pass” which is a kind of a wristband. Alcohol Pass is issued at every Information Center. For details, please refer to Drinking Alcohol.

Facilities and Services

QWhere can I get the official brochure?

Official brochures are given out at every Information Center for one copy per group. Please understand that there will be no distribution in advance and distribution may end when all copies are given out.

QIs there an online official brochure?

Please refer to the online official brochure that will soon be published on this website.

QIs there May Festival merchandise?

The Committee will sell merchandise at the Merchandise Store around Engineering Bldg. 6 on the days of May Festival. The Committee does not sell them online. For details, please refer to Official Merchandise. We recommend you to purchase one as a souvenir of the May Festival. Please note that sales might end without prior notice due to limited stocks.

QI have lost something. What should I do?

If you realize that you have lost something during the May Festival, please stop by the nearest Information Center. The Committee will check whether we have your lost item. In case the Committee has not received it yet, the Committee (03-5684-4594) will call you as soon as it is found. If you realize you have lost something after you get back home, please submit Lost Item Form. For details, please refer to Information Center, Lost and Found, Missing Children.

QI am looking for my missing child. What should I do?

If you and your child got separated on the days of May Festival, please stop by the nearest Information Center. The Committee will check whether we are taking care of your missing child. In case we are not taking care of them, we will also do our best to find them. As soon as your child is found, the Committee (03-5684-4594) will give you a call.

QIs there anywhere I can eat or drink and take a rest?

Please use Rest Areas where you can eat and drink. Please note that eating or drinking is prohibited in some indoor Rest Areas.

QAre there any accessibility services?

Yes, there are. For details, please refer to Accessibility.

QCan I borrow a wheelchair or a stroller?

You can borrow one at Information Centers principally when you have reserved it in advance. If you would like to borrow a wheelchair, please refer to Rental of Wheelchairs. If you prefer to borrow a stroller, please refer to Rental of Strollers. You may also bring your own wheelchair or stroller.

QIs there anywhere I can breastfeed or change a diaper?

In some accessible bathrooms, a diaper changing table is available. For information on the location of the accessible bathrooms, please refer to Accessibility. Also, there are some Rest Areas where you can breastfeed or change a diaper for your baby. For detailed information, please ask a Committee member wearing a blue jacket at Information Centers.

Projects

QHow can I find a project?

Please use Search for Projects. You can use the index of the official brochure. Also, we will search for projects for you at the Information Center, so please feel free to stop by.

QAre there any recommended projects?

Some are on the official brochure and on this website (Recommended Projects).

QIs it possible to use electronic payment?

You can use your credit card, your IC card, Quickpay and iD at the Merchandise Store. Also you can pay by them in some projects, but we recommend you to bring cash.

QAre there any projects that require a numbered ticket or an advance reservation?

Yes, some projects require them. Information on whether the project requires them is on the Project Detail Page. You can access the page through Search for Projects.

QIs there a timetable of the stage projects?

Yes, there is. Please refer to Stage Timetable. Also, a signboard of timetable is around each stage.

QIs there a Campus Tour?

QWhat is the May Fes. Awards?

The best projects of May Festival are determined based on visitors’ votes. You can vote not only at the voting station beside Main Gate or Itomon Gate but also at the Project Detail Page on this website. For details, please refer to May Fes. Awards.
